Ribbon Cuttings

Do you have a grand opening or significant anniversary to celebrate? The Chamber hosts ribbon cuttings throughout the year as a way of commemorating milestones for our members.   Ribbon Cuttings are an exclusive and valuable marketing benefit that we provide our members complimentary with their membership to our chamber.  We want to help celebrate your success — contact Kelly Anderson-Tardella at (815) 436-4431 to schedule your Ribbon cutting today.  Once you have scheduled your Ribbon Cutting, you will be sent a Ribbon Cutting Confirmation Letter with details to help you plan your event.

The Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce will provide you with ceremonial scissors and ribbon for your ribbon cutting. We will invite the PSACC Board of Directors, Chamber Ambassadors, and Chamber Members to your event.  Your event will be assigned an ambassador in charge to visit and provide the scissors and ribbon and to take a digital photo to be posted to social media.  We will post your event to our Chamber & Community Calendar.

Here are some helpful tips to make your ribbon cutting a successful event.

Helpful Planning Tips

Because your ribbon cutting is your event, there are no set guidelines.

Date Selection

  • Our Ribbon Cuttings are scheduled on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 11:30 am or 4:00 pm.  During the summer months, we are unable to schedule Ribbon Cuttings on Tuesdays due to Cruise Nights.   We do book up very quickly, so we suggest you lock in your date as soon as possible.
  • Give yourself plenty of preparation time. Three to four weeks is sufficient.  You will be assigned an Ambassador in Charge that will be your liaison 7 – 10 prior to your event. This individual will be available to address any last-minute questions that you may have and assist you on during your ceremony to ensure your event runs smoothly.

Invitations

The Chamber will promote your ribbon cutting in the newsletter as well as on the Chamber calendar. But who you invite to your event is as important as hosting the event.  We will also promote your event on our “Members Only Facebook page.”  We will be happy to prepare an invitation that will be sent out to chamber members and Village Personnel, or you are welcome to design your own invitation. Be sure to include the: who, what, where, why, and when as well as an RSVP method.  We do have specific requirements that are utilized when designing your artwork and will be happy to provide them to you upon request.

Refreshments

The chamber will have a photographer at your event that will take photos to be used solely for chamber use.  These photos will be used for the Chamber newsletter, social media, and the PSACC Facebook page announcement of your Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.  If you would like any official media at your event, this is your responsibility to obtain and arrange services for your event.

Additional Suggestions

Have plenty of brochures, business cards, and handouts available for your guests. If possible, have promotional items such as pens, magnets, mugs, etc. available to hand out.  Have a drawing or giveaway. Winning a sample of your product or a gift certificate to a nice restaurant can add to your guests’ enjoyment and perhaps build attendance.  The purpose of your Ribbon Cutting is to have your guests build awareness of your company name and product!
